Managing Users projects

Hi. Is there any way of getting an overview of what projects are available to what users?

Hi Johan,

We don’t currently (at version 1.30) have a screen which gives this overview. It’s possible to get this information using a query on the MongoDB database, but no screen dedicated for this purpose. We are looking to enhance our authorization metamodel this year. Please monitor the release notes for further updates in this area.

Best regards,
Ian

Hi Ian. Thanks for the answer. Can you give a ball park guess when this will be released? We are investigating the possiblitiy of giving data scientists access to matillion for integration purposes, ad hoc analysis and so on. This requires a more sophisticated user and role management system.

In the meantime. How do I connect to mongo?

Hi Johan,

I’m checking with our CTO about when to expect the changes to Matillion user/role management, and what will be changing. I will get back to you when I know more.

Meanwhile to query data from MongoDB, you would use the MongoDB Query component. You mainly need to make sure your MongoDB database allows Matillion to connect across the network.
If you want to query Matillion’s own MongoDB repository, leave port, username and password blank, and set the Server to 127.0.0.1 and the Database to emerald

Best regards,
Ian

Hi Ian. So this basically means that ALL users that have access to matillion have access to the metadata repository without any need for passwords etc?

Hi Johan

Yes that’s correct. Anyone with access to Matillion can access the metadata. However in the Metadata they’re not seeing anything they wouldn’t be able to see in the UI of Matillion. No passwords are stored in plain text.

Thanks
Laura
